So it begins...

Well, apparently I am taking my first baby steps into the world authorship. I have completed one manuscript, am working on a second, and laying the groundwork for a memoir. I can't believe I'm beginning to realize a dream that I have had for years! My completed manuscript is the true story of my dog Sasha and her struggles to overcome her fear of...well, everything. She began life afraid of paper that would drift off the table in a breeze and workmen who came to the house, but grew in confidence into a wonderful, loving dog who helped rehabilitate other dogs so they could be adopted into loving families. This children's book teaches the value of moving forward in spite of fear and overcoming fears through facing them.

My second work in progress is a fictional story (a series of stories, really) for children based on my other dog, Jiggers. In these stories, Jiggers travels to various parts of the world on a magical flying carpet, meets some wonderful characters, and has a few adventures along the way. So far I have four books planned. In book one, we meet Jiggers and and his magic carpet and learn how they struck up a friendship. In book two, the pair travel to Japan; in book three, they explore Israel. Book four takes us, Jiggers, and his carpet to Europe.

The memoir takes readers through my post-partum struggles with a serious mood disorder. It is very different from my children's writing and perhaps provides the reader with the opportunity to see herself in my experiences, to know she is not alone, and to believe that help is available. Whether you are a new mom, a not-so-new mom, or not a mom, I think you will learn quite a lot (guys too!) about post-partum mood disorders and the havoc they can wreak on sufferers. I hope you will not be able to put it down.

So, this is what I do to keep myself busy in my spare time since I have so much of it, LOL. Being a full time Registered Nurse and a full time mom and a full time wife apparently doesn't keep me quite busy enough. Expect blogs about all these areas of my life in the future. I hope to keep you entertained and interested. Please let me know what you would like to read about. I aim to please!
